Situation

Jackfield is a small, long established village style community pleasantly situated in the Severn Gorge on the southern bank of the River Severn. It is an area steeped in the history of the Industrial Revolution and is located a little over one mile east of the renowned and historic township of Ironbridge which is now a World Heritage Site.  It is some six miles south of Telford town centre with its wide range of recreational and shopping facilities, including the New Southwater development, the M54 motorway and the town’s central railway station.

Jackfield Mill is understood to date from around 1883 and originally formed part of the former Maws Tile Works – the company being well known and respected in the 19th and 20th Centuries for its wide variety of tile products. How to get there – from Ironbridge take the B4373 road towards Broseley; proceed over the Free Bridge by the Robin Hood Inn and then turn left following the signs for the Tile Museum; proceed past the Tile Museum and also past the first entrance to the Maws Craft Centre; after a further 150 yards turn left (signposted Jackfield Mill); at the bottom of the incline to the right is the parking area; proceed back past the access road and the property is on the right hand side.
